Chris' Gym Retreat

At the beginning of November, we took 4 fabulous ladies to Daylesford to embark on our first ever Chris’ Gym retreat. Our aim was to provide a weekend away that allowed people to step away from the norm and recharge their batteries. To get some downtime and more importantly to think about themselves instead of work, grocery shopping or children to name a few things!


While we provided personal training sessions on both days of the weekend, the weekend itself was more about relaxing and reflecting. We provided most meals, so people did not have to think too much about food and there was a Yin Yoga session each day. And in addition to this, every guest was offered a life coaching session on the Saturday. This added extra proved to be a hit with everyone, even people that were skeptical about what they would get from the session. Everyone walked away with specific goals and a clearer head.


From the feedback that we were given – people found the greatest benefit in the yoga. Because it focused people and allowed them to relax and get back in tune with their body. Yoga is a great partner to other exercise. Especially Yin Yoga and our instructor Hannah is brilliant. She keeps you in the room and inspires you to get the most out of each pose. Gently reminding you to breathe and clear your mind.

Each lady managed to get some downtime and found each personal training session beneficial. Even with no gym, we still managed to make the workouts hard work and creative. And that is despite the windy and rainy weather that we experienced on both days!

But the accommodation made the experience very calming and effortless because there was so much space. Each room had its own ensuit bathroom. Allowing a sense of privacy even with seven women in one house!


There are many benefits of a health retreat. The first being; having everything organized for you and therefore making those few days a lot less stressful than normal life. The second is having time dedicated to you; relaxation is an easier place to get to. Having that constant sense of wellbeing reinforced – whether that be in the nutritious foods provided, the serene natural surroundings or the meditative yoga. Everything points to you and leaving stress at the door.


Retreats generally give you the time for goal setting and pampering, they allow you to get a new perspective on things and break from your normal routine.


We found that our ladies, experienced all those things and loved it! The only downside would have been that they didn’t have more time to enjoy all those things a little longer. The next time we organize a retreat and there will be a next time because the feedback that we got from this one was that all participants would do another one with us and recommend a friend. We will make it at least an extra night longer. We are aiming to organize an overseas retreat in the middle of the year in 2017 after we have run another successful one in Victoria. So, if you like the sound of coming on one of our retreats – because it isn’t all about detoxing and denying yourself. It’s about taking time out and getting back to you.
